what a difference a year makes

“Fear not, for I am with you;

be not dismayed, for I am your God;

I will strengthen you, I will help you,

I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Isaiah 41:10

A year ago, I was in a dark place. Life wasn’t quite panning out like I expected it too. Yet, that’s often the result when you take your eyes off of the true source of Light and Life . . . things get dark, quickly! Dan and I had been trying to grow our family for over a year . . . nothing! I knew God had a plan, but I wasn’t really trusting Him to work it out . . . I wanted it to go a little faster and more my way, than His way.

But my way wasn’t working . . . at all. So He had to graciously remind me, again, that He holds ALL things in HIS righteous hand . . . our inability to bear children, our broken hearts, our family’s future. He holds it all. There was nothing I could do, but cry out to Him, and fall into His sweet embrace. It was there that I found peace for my weary heart.

“The branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.

I am the vine; you are the branches.

Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

John 15:4-5

abide (v.): obey, follow, hold to, adhere to, stick to, defer to

God, because He loves His children, taught me how to rest/follow/obey/stick to Him and Him alone . . . no medical test or ovulation cycle or future baby . . . just Him! There He reminded me daily, that the results of our fertility tests did not surprise Him. He knew from the beginning of time, how He would be building our family, for His own glory. He knew.

Today, I am ever so grateful for the love of my heavenly Father, that he continues to pour so freely. I am so honored to be raising these two precious boys. Forever thankful for their birthmom, who chose to spare their lives over ease and convenience.

“Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Matthew 6:33
